I didn't see any notes elsewhere about this one, but it looks like the latestest 10.4.10 update offers functionality that allows the user to choose their own calendar color in iCal.

Looks like Safari is attempting to become a real contender in the browser market. With such a low market share, and until now, in one OS only, it'll be interesting to see what comes of it.
